Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure that exfoliates the epidermis leaving a clean fresh glowing look to the skin. It is a quick procedure with few or no side effects. At LaserCosMedix, we often combine it with a peel that is appropriate for your skin. Dermaplaning is the manual removal of the dead cells from your face. The procedure is done by hand, with a scalpel. It will also temporarily remove that fine blonde hair that the laser can’t remove. It can also decrease some of those fine lines and wrinkles, while decreasing pigmentation and acne scarring.
Dermaplaning, also called blading, is a great procedure for pregnant and nursing patients who want a deep exfoliation, but are not allowed to use peeling agents on their skin because of the risk that the chemicals will be absorbed into the blood stream, and may be transferred to the fetus or the child. It is also a great choice for patients who have excess vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the skin. This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives the patient a healthier looking skin.
After the procedure, you may notice mild redness, which usually resolves within a few hours. Your skin will look clean and have a nice healthy glow. You can put on makeup immediately after and return to work.
